Individual Therapy 

Individual therapy is a process that focuses on growth and change. Talking about our issues and understanding our feelings paves the way to becoming more aware of the source of our struggles and painful feelings. This awareness allows us to perceive and create options in our lives, of which you may not have been aware. It focuses on finding ways to deal more effectively with feelings, behaviors, relationships and life's challenges.

What to expect for your first session? 

Therapy is a collaborative process. The first two or three session often focus on gathering information. Our licensed therapist speaks with the person in treatment about their past physical, mental, and emotional health. It will also discuss the concerns bring the person to therapy. You can also use this first few session to decide if the therapist's style is a good fit for your needs. Finding a therapist you are comfortable with is vital to successful treatment. It is important to talk about the type of therapy to be used, treatment goals, session length, and how many sessions are needed.

Group Therapy 

Group therapy offers a safe haven where allows people to receive the support and encouragement of the other members of the group; allows people to practice behaviors and actions within the safety and security of the group.

Greif and Loss Group

Grief is experienced in so many ways - physical, emotional, and spiritual. One needs a place to recognize that these reactions are part of the journey of grief. Being with grieving people can reaffirm that one is not going crazy. While every loss is unique, through support groups one can bask in the support of others who have experienced loss and understand.

Family/Couple Therapy 

A family's patterns of behavior influences the individual and therefore may need to be a part of the treatment plan. In family/couple therapy, the unit of treatment isn't just the person - even if only a single person is interviewed - it is the set of relationships in which the person is embedded

Research studies repeatedly demonstrate the effectiveness of marriage and family therapy in treating the full range of mental and emotional disorders and health problems. Clients report marked improvement in work productivity, co-worker relationships, family relationships, partner relationships, emotional health, overall health, social life, and community involvement.

Play Therapy 

Play Therapy is a form of therapy used primarily for children. That's because children may not be able to process their own emotions or articulate problems to [parents or other adults. It may look like an ordinary playtime, play therapy can be much more than that. Our therapist use playtime to observe and gain insights into a child's problems and help the child explore emotions and deal with unresolved trauma. Through play, children can learn new coping mechanisms and how to redirect inappropriate behaviors.

Benefits of play therapy

Some of the potential benefits of play therapy are:

  • taking more responsibility for certain behaviors

  • developing coping strategies and creative problem-solving skills

  • self-respect

  • empathy and respect for others

  • alleviation of anxiety

  • learning to fully experience and express feelings

  • stronger social skills

  • stronger family relationships

  • Play therapy can also encourage use of language or improve fine and gross motor skill

 

If your child has a diagnosed mental or physical illness, play therapy doesn’t replace medications or any other necessary treatments. Play therapy can be used alone or alongside other therapies.​
